Members of the Redeemed Christian Church (RCCG) of God are known for exploring new and innovative ways of celebrating the birthday of their General Overseer, GO, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
Over the years, the youth arm of the church hosted what they tagged “Marathon Messiah’s Praise”, a non-stop musical concert that lasted for the number of hours that tally with Pastor Adeboye’s age as part of activities to commemorate his birthday.
Marathon Messiah’s Praise was usually held globally in countries where the church has influence.
This time around, more colour is being added to the celebration as some RCCG members who are loyal to their GO have vowed to raise 8 million new souls in 80 days, from December 13th 2021 – to March 2nd 2022, when the Man of God will clock 80.
Known as ” a coalition of prominent sons and daughters of Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye”, the loyalists launched the “80 Days Soul Winning Challenge under the umbrella initiative” called REACH4CHRIST, at an event in Lagos.
According to them “the initiative is a birthday gift to a man who has dedicated the major part of his adult life to soul-winning”.
In a remark, the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Bishop Francis Wale-Oke described the project as one which resonates with God as Soul Winning is the heartbeat of God.
He stated that the passion of Pastor Adeboye for soul-winning should challenge every believer to participate in the 80 Days Soul Winning Challenge.
On his part, the Pastor-in-Charge of RCCG Champions Cathedral, Warri, Delta State, Pastor Emmanuel Emefienem explained that to realise the objective, a 100,000-man soul-winning team would be constituted, crusades held across 8 Cities in 80 towns across Nigeria, Gospel Invasion programmes hosted in 40 Higher Institutions, while outreaches would be carried out in 40 Correctional Facilities.
Pastor Emefienem hinted that
80 Hours Marathon Messiah’s Praise would also be organised, just as Outreaches would be taken to 2000 Secondary Schools among others.
He enjoined believers from all walks of life to support the project as a way of honouring Pastor Adeboye and expanding the kingdom of God.
Also speaking, the National Overseer, RCCG Nigeria, Pastor Joseph Obayemi reiterated that those who participate in the project would be richly rewarded by God as blessings are always reserved for soul winners and everyone who chooses to honour a father in the Lord.
Pastor Leke Adeboye, the last child of Pastor Adeboye and also the GO’s Senior Special Assistant said his father was a passionate and ardent soul winner who went the extra mile, including challenging the odds to reach continents, nations, cities, and even remote villages around the world to win souls for God.
He encouraged Christians everywhere to emulate Pastor Enoch Adeboye and join the challenge to win at least a soul per day throughout the 80 days that the project would last.
Also unveiled at the event were plans to transform lives and communities with social impact initiatives in the course of the 80 Days programme.
The project would incorporate digital solutions as mobile and web-based applications iReach and Philip bot would be used for setting soul-winning targets and interacting with new converts respectively.
