Recently, Nigerians were thrown into a state of shock following the disturbing news of a teacher of Arise and Shine Nursery and Primary School, Asaba,
Delta State capital that gave her 19-months-old pupil 31 strokes of the cane.
The baby later died few days after the incident.
Now the autopsy report on the late baby is out and it showed that the 31 month old baby actually died of shock.
This was confirmed by the spokesman of the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, on Tuesday in Asaba.
Speaking on the outcome of the autopsy, Edafe said the report showed that the one year and 7 months baby died of septic shock.
He stated that the autopsy was conducted at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba.
“The autopsy report indicates septic shock as the cause of death.
“That is what I can say, for now.
“Let the medical doctors and lawyers interpret what that means.” he said.
Recall that the mother of the deceased, Gift Ohanezeze, had reported that her baby Udeze did not recover after he was given 31 strokes of the cane by his teacher.
Ohanezeze said her baby was tied like a goat while being beaten by the teacher.
