Abia State is on the verge of benefitting from a major project by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). In that regard, a USAID team has visited the state to sight some of the key works captured in the approved project proposal.
This was made known in a statement from the Office of the Commissioner for Public Utilities and Water Resources, Abia State, Chief Kingsley Eke Imaga.
The statement says, “A team from USAID, paid a courtesy visit to the honourable Commissioner for Public Utilities and Water Resources, Chief Kingsley Eke Imaga.
“Speaking during the visit, the leader of the team who described their visit as friendly visit said that Abia state is one of their promising states. He used same time to eulogize the timely intervention of the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu who played a vital role in making sure Abia is captured by the USAID program. He went further to praise the efforts of the honourable Commissioner and the General Manager Waterboard, Engr. Leo for their doggedness.
“Furthermore, the leader of the team explained the major essence of their visit, which was to do an on-the-spot check of the job captured in the approved proposal and to review/correspond with what they have in their document.
“The Honourable Commissioner, Chief Kingsley Eke Imaga applauded the team and USAID at large for their support and making sure that Abia State is among the six (6) states that benefit from this program. Further in his speech , he used same medium to extol Engr. Leo, whom he described as ‘a big asset to Abia State’.
“The Honourable Commissioner, further promised the USAID team of his Excellency’s resolve to make all needed contributions at ensuring the realization of their numerous inkind projects in our dear state, Abia.
The permanent secretary Ministry of Public Utilities and Water Resources, on behalf of the management of the ministry of public utilities, appreciated the team and USAID for their visitation”.
However, the statement did not capture the nature of work that USAID is planning to carry out or the location(s).
