The Governor of Lagos State,Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu had a session with the leadership of the Methodist Church during which he urged religious leaders to pray harder for lasting peace in Nigeria and globally.
Mr. Sanwo-olu stated this in a Facebook post. He said the world is grappling with problems caused by the pandemic and the war between Russia and Ukraine, which calls for intensified prayers.
He however said the government is grateful for the religious tolerance among residents in Lagos that has made peace possible.
His words, ” Today, during a visit with the leadership of the Nigeria Baptist Convention Led by its President Revd (Dr) Israel Akanji I urged religious leaders to continue to pray for national and world peace.
“The world is currently reeling from the pains of the pandemic and the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine while as a country we are faced with many socio-economic and security challenges.
“Nevertheless, we are grateful for peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance among people of different faiths in Lagos.
We are thankful for the peace in lagos. We are thankful for this City because it is the melting pot of the economy and all commercial activities of our country.
As a government, we will continue to do our very best. We will continue to make ourselves accessible and available”.
