Sagay Distances Self From Guardian Heading Discrediting Buhari On Security Handling

Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN),
Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), has distanced himself from a publication by the Guardian , which heading discredited President Buhari’s efforts at handling security.

Sagay in a release signed by the Communications Officer PACAC, Aghogho Agbahor outrightly condemned the headline, saying it is the opinion of the reporter, not his.

He also described it as false and fraudulent.

The said heading published on 4th June,2022, reads, “Buhari’s handling of insecurity in Nigeria not satisfying at all’’.

According to the release,

“The attention has just been drawn to the publication of an interview Prof Sagay SAN granted to
Mr. Onyedeka Agbedo of the guardian newspaper about ten days ago.

“The heading given by the guardian to the interview is false and fraudulent.

He never said “Buhari’s handling of insecurity in Nigeria is not satisfying at all”. This is the view of the The Guardian Newspaper and not mine.

” It was a very comprehensive interview and the main comment he made on the security situation is that the APC government has to do everything in its power to resolve it otherwise the public will tend to forget the immense achievement of the party in all other areas of human activity, namely the economy, rail transportation, road construction and maintenance, construction of the second Niger bridge and the unprecedented social investment programme.

“If the guardian wishes to criticise this government’s handling of security, it should do so directly and not by dishonestly using my name”, concludes the release.
