Kano Police Arrest Dozens Of Suspected Criminals

The Kano State Police Command says it has arrested 96 suspected criminals in various locations of the state in the last two weeks.

The new commissioner of police CP Hussein Gumel stated this while parading the suspects at the headquarters of the kano police command , Bompai Kano.

He said in an effort to ensure a successful and hitch-free transition for the May 29, 2023, Kano State Governorship Inauguration, police have continually intensified drive for policing and other relevant engagements with concerted intelligence-led operations, aimed at enhancing peace and security.

CP Gumel explained that So far, a total of Ninety-Six (96) suspects were arrested for offences ranging from drugs and substance abuse that formed the motivating factor for violent crimes in the State such as mobile phone robbery, kidnapping, armed robbery, theft of motor vehicles, etc.

He noted that 52 suspects were arrested for mobile phone robbery, while many phones were recovered and over 150 illicit drug substances were also apprehended.

“(20) Cartons of Codeine Syrup, forty-five (45) parcels, three hundred and three (303) wraps of Dried Leaves Suspected to be cannabis, Suspected Exol Tablets, thirty (30) Pieces of Suspected Diazepam, thirty (30) Pieces of Suck and Die, etc.”

He maintained Other items recovered includes three (3) Locally Made Guns, some deadly fabricated weapons, four (4) Motor Vehicles, two (2) Tricycles, six (6) Motorcycles, one (1) Roll of Power Cables, two (2) Plasma TV, one (1) Air Conditioner, two (2) Jerricans of 25litres of Palm Oil, A Gas of Cylinder, A Ceiling Fan, some Wrist Watches and twenty-eight (28) peg-irons symbol in cemetery for grave identification, Among others.

The CP maintained that the command will continue to work with the required sacrifices and diligent commitments alongside the synergy with relevant stakeholders to resolutely pursue the vision and mission of the Inspector-General of Police.

Gumel appeal to the General populace not to relent in according the needed support to the security agencies ,with the aim of achieving the set objectives.
