Tinubu inaugurates NEC to rollout subsidy palliatives

Nigeria’s newly sworn-in president, Bola Tinubu, has inaugurated a National Economic Council, NEC, that will oversee the economy during his regime.

Performing the ceremony, Tinubu called on members of the council to strive to make the desired impact.

The inauguration comes a week after he directed NEC to meet to come up with interventions to mitigate the effects of the petroleum subsidy.

The President charged them to harness the growth potential of the country and bring about serious development to engender a pragmatic economic progress in a rapid manner.

NEC went into a meeting shortly after inauguration.

Members of NEC consist of the 36 State Governors, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and other relevant government officials.
