International Youth Day: Nigerian Youths need to be focused in achieving peace-Mekaowulu

As Nigeria joins the rest of the globe to observe the 2024 International Youth Day, the nation’s youths have been enjoined to be intentional and focused on working for the enthronement of lasting peace and unity in their country.


A youth leader, Chief Chuka Christian Mekaowulu gave the advice during an interactive session in Lagos on the global event.


The International Youth Day is held each year on the 12th of August and is an initiative that celebrates the qualities of young people and that recognises the challenges that today’s youth can face.

Chief Mekaowulu stated that the country needs lasting peace and unity to be great, and that the youths can make that happen by distancing themselves from acts that lead to violence while being partners in progress with the government of the day.


“I want to use this opportunity to advice the whole youths to do everything that will bring peace in Nigeria. Let us the youths support the president. If we the youths support him, he will be able to deliver and bring back Nigeria to the path of progress”, he said.


“I wish my fellow youths a happy International Youth Day. We as youths need to be focused in the area of building peace in Nigeria. We need to know that we have only one Nigeria, let us work very hard to achieve the best Nigeria that we can”, he advised.

Chief Mekaowulu who is the Chief Security Officer, Association of Progressive Traders, APT, International Trade Fair Complex, Lagos urged that all Nigerians should work hard to achieve the best Nigeria that everyone desires.


He appealed to people of the various ethnic groups in the country to believe in one Nigerian and make the needed sacrifice for the good of the nation, adding that God did not make a mistake by bringing together the ethnic groups.


According to him, “I believe in One Nigeria. The Almighty God has made us to be one, he did not make any mistake.


“The whole ethnics in Nigeria, let us believe we are one. Let us channel our strength in working for love and peace in our dear country’’, he appealed.
