Onitsha Chamber inaugurates new executives

The Onitsha Chamber of Commerce, Industry Mines, and Agriculture (ONICCIMA), Wednesday in Onitsha inaugurated Chief Augustine Ibeme as its 15th president, alongside other executives.

Performing the inauguration, the National President of ONICCIMA, Mr Dele Oye, charged the newly inaugurated president and his team to do things that will promote the chamber’s activities to greater heights.

Oye, who was represented by Mr. Humphrey Ngonadi, the Southeast Chairman of ONICCIMA, said that Onitsha is very rich in business and as such he should explore ways to improve the chambers.

He lauded the State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo for partnering with organised private sectors in making the state business friendly.

He noted that the chamber was grateful to the governor for his unalloyed support of their movement.

Speaking on behalf of the inaugurated executives, the ONICCIMA president, Ibeme, commended the past leadership of the state chambers for their immensely contributions to building ONICCIMA.

According to him, “I must not fail to appreciate and thank our past presidents who have immensely contributed to building ONICCIMA in the state.

“I will restore the glory of Onitsha business community, my vision is to explore every meaningful way to restore the glory of Onitsha business environment by seeking platforms for advocacy with different stakeholders.

“My major focus is to to complete the ONICCIMA secretariat, a project that already underway”, he said.

He gave an assurance that they would accommodate diverse business, including building entrepreneurs who would benefit through mentorship from already established companies.

The State Commissioner for Industry, Mr Christian Udechukwu, had noted that the administration of Gov. Charles Soludo is business-friendly he highlighted various reforms the current government is putting in place.

Udechukwu used the occasion to canvas votes for chairmanship positions for All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidates in the Sept. 28 Local government election in the state.

The high point of the event, was a presentation of awards of recognition to various stakeholders and past executives of ONICCIMA in the state.
