Lagos Shuts down Cherubim & Seraphim Church, others over noise pollution

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has conducted an enforcement operation shutting down several establishments over noise pollution and other environmental violations.

The enforcement focused on areas such as Itokin Road, Maya, Erunwen, Elepe Road, Awolowo Way, Ijede Road, and Igbogbo Road in Ikorodu.

The establishments included the National Conference of the Calvary Cross, Cherubim & Seraphim Church; Le Silhouette Hotel; Walik Hotel; Rhonny’s Place; Obans Events Center; and others.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab stated that this operation aims to combat noise pollution and protect public health.

Wahab in a statement reaffirmed the state’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

This action comes after the recent removal of 84 illegal squatters from under the Ebute Ero bridge on Lagos Island.

The statement reads;

“In an effort to combat noise pollution and other environmental violations, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), took decisive action today shutting down multiple establishments in different parts of the State.

“This enforcement operation targeted areas such as Itokin Road, Maya, Erunwen, Elepe Road, Awolowo Way, Ijede Road and the Igbogbo Road area in Ikorodu, reflecting LASEPA’s ongoing commitment to maintaining environmental standards and protecting public health.

“The establishments affected include the National Conference of the Calvary Cross, Cherubim & Seraphim Church, Cherubim & Seraphim Church (Asale Agbala), Le Silhouette Hotel, Walik Hotel, Rhonny’s Place, Obans Events Center, Stop Over Inn, Bigcat Bakery, Girrong Hotel & Bar, Anjia Prefabricated Construction (Nig) Co. Ltd, Tois Bar & Holiday Inn, a quarry site, and Ambassador Villa.
