BSN Holds 22nd Marathon Bible Reading

The Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) is set to hold the 22nd edition of its annual Marathon Bible Reading (MBR).

The programme will take place in Lagos and 21 other states across the country from Monday 26th to Friday August 30, 2024.

The weeklong spiritual exercise will be declared open on Sunday 25th August 2024, at Christ Anglican Church, Elere, Agege, Lagos, by the General Secretary/CEO of BSN, Pastor Samuel Sanusi.

Marathon Bible Reading is designed to encourage people to engage in constant study of the Word of God for spiritual growth, transformation and deeper experience with God.

Participants will read the Bible in their languages uninterrupted between 9: 00 a.m and 5: 00 p.m daily in different centres.

A participant in one of our previous editions has this to say:

Participating in MBR guarantees three-fold joy. Apart from reading the Bible in their languages, participants, irrespective of age, profession, sex or status, will help someone else hear the Word of God in a new way and join others in the continuous reading of the Bible.

In recent times, there has been a flurry of activity to break the Guinness World Record in different categories. In Nigeria, for instance, Hilda Bacci cooked for 93 hours and 11 minutes to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, while another Nigerian, Tunde Onakoya, surpassed the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon.

While others engage in marathon activities to win earthly laurels, we encourage Nigerians to go to any centre nearest to them to take part in this once in a year experience that has in the past recorded testimonies of people being blessed to the extent of divine healing.

The Bible Society of Nigeria is a not-for-profit interdenominational Christian organisation that translates the Bible into Nigerian languages, publishes, distributes, and raises funds for Bible work.

It organises programmes that engage people with the word of God to transform their lives.

So far, the BSN has translated the complete Bible into 27 Nigerian languages, while translation/revision is ongoing in 10 Nigerian languages.
