Large crowds comprising youths, seniors, staff members of the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), Lagos State Government employees, financial institution representatives, students, and social media influencers gathered on Lagos Island for the annual ‘Walk for Nature’ rally, focused on enhancing environmental consciousness among Lagosians and Nigerians nationwide.
During the 3 kilometers walk, participants carried banners and placards with inscriptions urging residents on the people on need to embrace sustainable lifestyles including proper waste management techniques, tree planting, and renewable sources of power generation, to tackle climate change and other contemporary environmental disasters including flooding.
Addressing the crowd, the Chairman, National Executive Council (NEC) of NCF, Hon. Justice (Dr) Bukunola Adebiyi who disclosed various initiatives by the foundation towards fulfilling its mandate of creating and maintaining a Nigerian society where people prosper while living in harmony with nature, urged everyone to take action to conserve the country’s natural environment to safeguard lives and livelihoods.
