The National President, Association for Formidable Educational Development (AFED), Hon. Orji Emmanuel Kanu has bagged the “Africa Education Leaders Award” in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development of the educational system in Africa.
The award was bestowed on him at an event on Wednesday, 23rd February.Taking to his official Facebook Page, Orji said he dedicated the award “to God first, AFED Nigeria and the African child”.
AFED is the umbrella body of low cost private schools in Nigeria.
Hon. Orji Emmanuel who is also the CEO of Rockford Group of Schools has been in the forefront of promoting qualitative and affordable education for every child in Nigeria and Africa at large.
Under his leadership, AFED entered into a partnership with Buckingham University, United Kingdom aimed at building the capacity and competence of teachers in low-cost private schools across Nigeria.
Three hundred participants were selected for the pilot stage of the programme and following its huge success story, it was expanded to reach more beneficiaries.
Participants in the AFED-Buckingham Teachers Training Programme which is delivered virtually are given free tablets and Internet connections to ensure seamless study during the period.
A national speaker on a number of topical issues in the education sector, Honourable Orji Emmanuel has also collaborated with lots of other stakeholders including the Lagos State Government in efforts at maintaining quality assurances in delivery of educational services.
