Indiscriminate Purchase Of APC Presidential Nomination Form By Serving Government Functionaries Is Prove Of Rot In Buhari’s Administration—Nigerians

Vehicles for CBN Governor’s presidential campaign

Nigerians in the social media space are feeling uneasy at the indiscriminate purchase of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nomination form for the position of president by serving public functionaries, submitting that it is a proof that the President Mohammadu Buhari’s led administration has completely lost the morality and common sense to lead the country.

The angry online users also said it is an evidence that President Buhari is no longer in charge ,making his workers to do as they like.

The anger of Nigerians became uncontrollable after the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele joined the last batch of officials to pick the APC presidential nomination form at the cost One Hundred Million Naira (N100,000,000) per candidate. Respondents think that for one that is in-charge of the country’s wealth and economy, the CBN Governor should have resigned before purchasing the nomination form.

One of the Online users ,Felix Akugha said the most annoying side of the story is that Emefiele performed woefully as central bank governor ,while calling for his immediate sack.

“This is just a huge joke! Let’s even put aside the appropriateness or otherwise of an incumbent CBN Governor participating actively in politics and even contesting our Presidential elections.

” My query is that , has he even performed well as CBN Governor? Emefiele is the worst CBN Governor since independence in 1960. He has singlehandedly crashed the Naira to it’s worst level ever. He has destroyed the Nigerian economy. How can such a person even contemplate the office of president of Nigeria? Without further delay, PMB needs to fire him instanter. Chai! We don suffer for Naija sha!!!”.

On his part, Pretty Definest Adegoke queried saying “Does President Buhari really have control of his appointees at all?

How on earth will some of them especially the CBN governor who is in charge of the country’s money and economy also be declaring for the post of the president without first resigning? It’s highly preposterous”.

Another Nigerian, Eguzouwa Henry expressed his concern thus, “That’s to show that we don’t have a leader at all. He is just there for fancy. Just do as you like. God Almighty will judge them all”.

To yet another online user, Solomon Adebayo,

” Nigeria’s Central Bank Governor is a politician and a card carrying member of the ruling party!

The absurdities Buhari is enabling shows that his mental capacity to understand what is going on in Nigeria is doubtful. The president is incompetent and the governor of Central Bank is a politician so why won’t Nigeria economy and monetary system be on a free fall?”.

There are thousands of such reactions as spotted by our correspondents.

So far, over twenty (20) aspirants have declared to run for president in the APC after paying the nomination fee of N100,000,000 per candidate.

Most of the aspirants are serving government functionaries who are either ministers, senators,governors, appointees of the ruling party and others occupying top executive or judiciary positions.

They include the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele;

former National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole; the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio; Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi; Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Badaru; Senate President Ahmad Lawan ;Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu and National Leader of APC, Bola Tinubu
