A young lady in Lagos State nearly lost her life during a fibroid operation. This is because the doctor of a private hospital where the operation was conducted left a towel inside her womb.
Two days after the operation, her stomach got swollen with the doctor involved unable to explicitly explain what was wrong.
Instead, he referred her to the Federal Medical Center, FMC,Ebute Meta where they are more doctors. Sadly, she was rejected at FMC due to no bed space.
FMC referred her to LUTH when her condition had become critical. It was at LUTH that it was discovered that a towel was left inside her womb,which was the reason for her swollen stomach. The correctional surgery to remove the towel was carried out last night , Sunday 21st April 2024
The essence of the surgery is for them to have an increased chance of conception.
Aggrieved by the development,her husband is threatening a legal action over the doctor’s silly negligence that nearly wasted the life of his wife as well as further eroded her chance of conception.
